SEJ Disaster Response Academy, March 16-19

The 2009 SEJ UMVIM / UMCOR Disaster Response Academy will be held at Camp Wesley Pines in Gallman, Mississippi from March 16-19. The academy will start with lunch on Monday and end with lunch on Thursday.

There are 5 scheduled tracks including: UMCOR Response Training; Early Response Team (ERT) Train-the-Trainer; Advanced ERT; Incident Command System (ICS); and Emotional and Spiritual Care. The advanced modules will include: On Site Management; Chainsaw Training; Volunteer Management; VIM Team Leadership Training.

We are excited this year to culminate our academy with a tabletop scenario on Thursday morning which will reinforce our protocols, help answer many questions, and give us all an opportunity to work together in a practical way before the disasters come our way!

The cost will be $100 per person (quad occupancy) or $150 single occupancy which includes all lodging, meals, snacks, materials, and instruction. Special thanks to UMCOR for providing grant monies to subsidize these costs.
